Our next guest post comes from Jackie Schwitter of @thecurvycapsule. She's a mama. She loves books. And she is a huge slow fashion advocate. You definitely want to give her a follow.

Here's what Jackie has to say about finding her way in the plus size slow fashion community:
My slow fashion story began with a late night instagram hashtag rabbit hole. I found myself looking for plus sized fashion creators and noticed a hashtag of #slowfashion. I’d never heard the term before so I kept searching for posts with the hashtag and discovered what the term meant. The next day, I went through my closet and sold/donated about half of it. I had no idea people weren’t being paid living wages or that they were working in unsafe factories across the world using fabrics that are harmful to wear. Never did it occur to me to wonder, “who makes my clothes.”

After learning more about slow fashion, I started looking for plus sized slow fashion, and came up short. It was a hard pump of the brakes. I found one creator who was plus sized that featured slow fashion, that was it at the time. That's when I started my page to share my journey.
A few things I’ve learned along the way:
- Personal style is ever evolving. Allow yourself the room to grow and change.
- Find brands whose values align with yours.
- You definitely do not need to get rid of your fast fashion clothes. Wear what you have and find new ways to wear what’s already in your closet.
- Accessories save the day.
- No matter where you are in your slow fashion journey, the community is happy to have you here :)
Jackie has beautiful things to say about reading, parenting, being queer, and wearing/finding clothes in a plus sized body. Her slow fashion practice feels grounded, realistic, and thoughtful. Thanks, Jackie, for sharing so much of yourself.
